Who we are

Sophie Appleton Wyeth

Sophie Appleton WyethA highly experienced SpLD & Dyslexia Assessor as well as teacher, who began teaching in 2010. Her teaching journey has taken her to both state and independent schools in south London, the south of England and Dubai.

Being neurodivergent herself, and therefore understanding first hand some of the challenges children and adults can face, Sophie has developed the reputation for being a teacher who most understands and celebrates children with SEND, and her classes were repeatedly populated with children with a range of difficulties.

This experience led her to further her professional development six years ago, by training as a Specialist Teacher and Specialist Assessor, completing the Level 5 Diploma: Teaching Learners with Dyslexia/SpLDs at the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre and the postgraduate Level 7 Diploma in Dyslexia Assessment and Intervention through the British Dyslexia Association.

She is also an Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA) and holds an Assessing Practice Certificate (APC). She has been working as a Learning Support Teacher, with a specialism in Maths support, and as the In-House Assessor at one of the top all-girls independent boarding schools in the UK. She has assessed, identified and supported girls and staff with numerous different SpLDs over these years. She has also been working as a private Specialist Assessor and Specialist Teacher for several children and their parents.
